Principal's Welcome
School Motto
"In our school we are all friends who work, learn and play together so that St Francis' will be a memorable stepping stone in life's journey."
Welcome to the web site of St Francis' Primary School and Bunscoil Naomh Proinsias.
As Principal to this wonderful school, I, like all the children starting each new school year, do so with a sense of excitement and anticipation. I am thrilled to be working with teaching and support staff who have the child at the centre of all they do.
St Francis Primary School and Bunscoil Naomh Proinsias have achieved significant success over the years:
- Our school was inspected in November 2015 and achieved High Capacity Status with the recognition of high quality teaching and learning
- We were awarded the Green Eco Flag three times with the additional recent success of Green Teacher of the Year NI
- We have established a unique outdoor woodland area, are an accredited Forest School and are an outreach centre for red squirrels, as part of Belfast Zoo's breeding programme
- We participated successfully at Ulster and All-Ireland level in Drama (Bunscoil) as well as at Portadown Feis on many occasions.
With an appropriate focus on the curriculum and learning, St Francis PS will continue to provide a wealth of experiences beyond the classroom to enrich pupils' learning and to make the children's time here both memorable and enjoyable.
Through this website, our Facebook Page and Twitter Feed you can keep up to date with all that will be going on at our busy and inclusive school - and with nearly 820 pupils, busy and active every day, there will be lots to catch up on.
Thank you for visiting.

Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
