March Update on Phased Return - the advice so far.

25th Feb 2021

25th February 2021

Dear Parents & Carers

Phased return of pupils to start in March

The Department of Education have announced a phased return to full time face-to-face teaching for certain pupils. In our school this includes all children from Nursery, Primary 1, Primary 2 and Primary 3.

In the meantime we will continue to provide supervised learning for vulnerable pupils and children of key workers and, if this service is needed, an application needs to be made to the Principal, Miss O’Dowd, via email;  oodowd352@c2kni.net

DE have advised that:

  • from 8 March until 19 March, pupils in pre-school, nursery and primary school pupils in P1 to P3 will return to full-time face-to-face teaching. Remote learning then again from 22 March – 1 April
  • Pre-school, nursery and primary school pupils in P1 to P3 will then return to full-time face-to-face teaching after the Easter holidays, from 12 April
  • There are no firm plans for children in Primary 4-7 at this point.

Guided by the prevailing public health advice and scientific evidence, the Department of Education’s objective remains to have a full return of all pupils to face to face teaching in school as soon as practicably possible after the Easter break but recognise this has to be balanced against the public health position. Once I have solid information on the educational provision for the P4-P7 pupils I will be in touch with those arrangements. The Executive are to meet next week again so hopefully we will get some firm arrangements.

School meal services will definitely be offered to the Nursery and P1-P3 classes and we will set up the School Money booking for all those classes. If School Meals Service become available for P4-7 children attending I will let you know but at this stage it looks unlikely and parents should continue to provide lunches.

Again I want to thank you for your patience and dedication during this very difficult period and for doing your best in facilitating the remote learning. We look forward to the day when we can get the children back to school and enjoy their stories, smiles and laughter.

Yours sincerely

Orla O’Dowd

Principal
