EU Settlement Scheme - URGENT MESSAGE
Notification to all Schools with Newcomer Pupils:
URGENT MESSAGE FOR NEWCOMER PARENTS REGARDING THE EU RESETTLEMENT SCHEME
The deadline for applications to the EU Settlement Scheme is 30th June 2021. All EU/EEA citizens and
non-EU family members MUST apply to the EU Settlement Scheme, this includes those with a
permanent residence document. It is important that ALL members of the family apply to the scheme,
including children.
If an application is not made by 30th June 2021, EU/EEA citizens and non-EU family members currently
living in the UK will become unlawfully resident.
This will prevent access to education, health care, social services, jobs, the rental market, and other
rights. Individuals may be subject to removal from the UK. For the children and families in your
school, it could mean loss of entitlement to NHS services, impacting on children’s access to
vaccinations, and loss of entitlement to benefits affecting Free School Meals and School Uniform
Allowance.
STEP can advise and support families completing applications. STEP is funded to deliver the EU
Settlement Support Project via Tel: 028 8775 0211 or via Email: euss@strongertogetherni.org
Advice NI can offer face-to-face support to schools to help their families complete their application
either in a safe schools’ space or outdoors using the Covid19 Safe Mobile Advice Van. Schools can
book a session using the Advice NI Freephone Helpline: 0800 915 4604 or via Email:
